Brock Peters was an American actor, best known for his role as Tom Robinson in Robert Mulligan’s drama film, To Kill a Mockingbird. He was also widely famous for his portrayal of Hatcher in dystopian thriller film, Soylent Green. Before his demise, Peters voiced for a character, Jomo in the animated adventure-comedy film, The Wild Thornberrys Movie in 2002.

Brock Peters was born as George Fisher on 2nd July 1927, in Harlem, New York City, New York, United States. He was American by his nationality and his ethnicity was African-American. He was the son of Alma A. Norford, a homemaker and Sonnie Fisher, a Senegalese sailor with the French Navy.
Peters had a keen interest in music after his mother encouraged him to play violin from 10 to 14 years. Later, he enrolled at New York’s famed High School of Music & Art. Upon graduation, Fisher went to study physical education at City College of New York (CCNY).

Brock Peters started his career by auditioning and landing a stage role in the touring company, Porgy, and Bess in 1949. Later, he got his big break from his first role, Sergeant, Brown in the American musical film, Carmen Jones in 1954. Similarly, his other movie credits are Two-Minute Warning, Two-Minute WarningStar Trek IV: The Voyage Home, etc.
